Wintermere Sod Growers is a family operated and owned business since 1990. We have been growing, delivering and installing top quality sod for over 25 years with a focus on creating a better sustainable environment with a green solution for your home or your business.
Located in North Ajax, we are proud to serve the Durham Region and its surrounding areas with our top quality sod. We continue to grow over 500 acres of quality lush, green sod and take great pride in growing only the best quality of Kentucky Blue Grass. We use only the best products and equipment available in today’s market to harvest fresh cut sod.
To serve our customers’ needs, we provide wholesale & retail prices and specialize in delivery, custom residential installation and supply of sod to the public, landscape contractors, builders/developers, local businesses, municipalities, nursery centers, golf courses and sports fields. We carry many other products such as fertilizer, lawn seed, etc. for your sodding project. You can pick it up yourself or have it delivered with one of our forklift trucks.

Our Products
Sod
Our sod is 100% Kentucky Blue Grass and cut fresh daily from our fields. Our yard is stocked with fresh sod every day.
- Each roll of sod covers 9 sq. Ft. (16” x 81”) for easy handling
- Sod is sold by the individual roll
- Available for pick-up or delivery
- Discounts available for large quantities
- Forklift loading is available
Sod can be delivered right to your front door. We deliver to the following areas: Scarborough, Ajax, Pickering, Whitby, Brooklin, Oshawa, Bowmanville, Courtice, Uxbridge and Port Perry
Seed
We carry 5 special blends of seed for all different types of lawns and conditions:
- Premium Sod Blend – Our 100% Special Blend of Kentucky Blue Grass
- Premium Parkland Mix: Certified for water conservation and extreme drought tolerance for hot summer weather
- 60% Kentucky Bluegrass/ 40% Fescue: used for quick establishment of seed for bare areas for over seeding
- General purpose
- Shade Mix
Fertilizer
EEvery lawn needs to be fed with fertilizer to keep its growth, thickness and healthy looking colour of green throughout the seasons. available sizes:
- 7kg (aprx.2500sqft) 12kg (aprx.5000sqft) 25kg (aprx. 11,000sqft) coverage
- We have these sizes in a spring, summer and fall mix.
Sod Roller Rental
Rolling is an important step to leveling out your lawn. Rolling your new sod completely removes the air between the sod and soil pressing the roots firmly into the soil, encouraging growth to start immediately.
Bag Yourself Topsoil
Top quality screened topsoil (we supply the bag)
Priced per bag, Aprx. size: 0.88Cuft it will top-dress an area about 10ft by 10ft for over seeding.
6” Green Bio-Degradable Sod Stakes
100% bio-degradable sod stakes are environmentally friendly. They will disappear in 12 – 24 months leaving no residuals.
All sod stakes are sold by the dozen or box.(Qty500/box)
